Research Topics

The group specializes in the mechanical behavior, the reliability and the relationship between microstructure and in-service performance of a wide range of advanced materials. The current lines of research are:

  • Metallic materials (stainless steels, tool steels, powder metallurgical alloys, titanium alloys, metal matrix composites, etc.)
  • Ceramic materials, composites and nanocomposites of ceramic matrix (dental zirconia, bioceramics, alumina, composites).
  • Coatings for cutting, forming and high temperature protection applications (thermal barriers, solid oxide fuel cells, etc.).
  • Hard materials (hardmetals, cermets, diamond, boron nitride, alumina, etc.).
